Shooting for the Mark

SFTM-CoverThumbThe time our children have in our home is fleeting.

Our charge as parents is to prepare them to live as godly adults before the Lord.  For most of them, God’s plan will include marriage, a relationship that will shape the rest of their life and possibly future generations.

Shooting for the Mark lays out a spiritual roadmap by which we can focus on essential goals and character qualities we should seek to instill in our children before they leave our home as adults.

Shooting for the Mark is designed to be straightforward, a tool for family and personal devotion, and application-driven.  If the Lord has blessed you with arrows, make sure you are shooting for the mark.

2013 Revival Sermons

We’ve posted the sermons from our 2013 Revival.  Pastor Mike Calhoun from Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri and his wife, Karaley, joined us for the special services and Pastor Mike brought the messages.  We are thankful for the visitors that joined us during service, but also grateful for the evidence of God using the truth to work in the hearts of both saved and lost.  The titles of the messages include:

  • The Word is Near Us
  • The Living and Powerful Word
  • Stronger on the Other Side
  • The Parable of the Mustard Seed and the Leaven

Am I Saved?

Without question, salvation is the most important teaching of Christ that needs to be understood.  It is not a solitary thing; you must also understand the concept of sin and be personally convinced of how it applies to you.  It is also essential that you understand who God is and His Son, Jesus Christ.  Finally, because of who God is (sinless) and who we are (sinners), there is a great and eternal separation that looms before us at death unless we can overcome sin.  The message of salvation, also called the gospel, is the answer to the problem of sin and is a message of great hope for a dying world.

This teaching is often confused and misunderstood.  God’s Word is not ambiguous.  This article is meant to be a simple explanation of the gospel, a message you desperately need to hear.  I encourage you to read it thoughtfully and prayerfully.  Contact information can be found in the article if you have further questions.

Revival 2011 Audio Sermons

The Anchor held special revival services over Easter Weekend in April, 2011.  Elder Brian Johnson, pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee was our evangelist.  He preached a wonderful series of messages from the Book fo Exodus.  Although we were unable to record his first message (my fault), we captured messages two through five and have made them available on our website.  Click here to view a brief description of the sermons and listen.  You can also click on the picture of Brian and his family to visit his blog, “Words of Encouragement”.
